The first thing to get over is this myth that there is no such thing as rust on a Land Rover. Although most basic models of Land Rover’s are made using aluminium, which does not rust, the chassis of these vehicles is made using the ladder frame chassis construction. This is basically what gives the Land Rover its inherent strengths. The sections of this chassis are made from mild steel which is welded together. Now, although during the construction of any Land Rover with the chassis sections will be given a coating of anti-rust proofing. This is the basic measure and it is not meant to last a lifetime. So, after 10 years or so, you will start to notice signs of rust buildup on the chassis and treatment will be needed. This is the last thing that you need after you’ve purchased a vehicle, so, the best thing to do is to check out the underneath of the vehicle thoroughly for any signs of rust.
The next in that you need to do is to check out all the paperwork that comes with a vehicle to make sure that the owner of the vehicle is the same person that is on the documentation. Also, do some online checks to verify that the vehicle has never been in a crash. You should also check out the vehicles financial history, and you should make sure the vehicle has not been reported as stolen.
