BMW X5 – The First 7 Seater Car From BMW
We all know the kind of cars that BMW makes. Being one of the earliest car companies, the giant has made sure that it maintains a premium position in the car manufacture segment. When it comes to the 7 seater cars market and specifically the SUVs, BMW took its first step into this segment with the launch of the BMW X5 car. During the time when it was first launched, the 7 seater cars segment or the SUV segment was still in its infancy, and people used the 7 seater cars for on road purposes more than the adventure works. Thus BMW made sure that X5 was the best in the fuel economy and on road performance. It also took steps to ensure the best in class driving experience and ease of handling because that is what mattered the most for people of that time.
But after 2000, the demand from people with the 7 seater SUV changed. People wanted more space in the SUV and they wanted the SUV to carry them to places where the normal car won’t drive. You might wonder if we said that X5 had only 5 seats to start with, and it was in 2007 that BMW took the decision of adding 2 more seats in the third row to make the car; the real 7 seater car. BMW made sure that the final 2 seats were removable in order to make space for the cargo; if any.
Where does X5 stand now?
Although the X5 is not acknowledged as the proper 7 seater SUV by many people, BMW has made its best effort to bring it as a luxury 7 seater car; and it is evident from the quality of the interiors that BMW has built in the car. The car has interiors made with the best of the materials.
X5 has three variants, with regard to the engine type. There are xDrive 30i, xDrive 35d, xDrive 48i; where xDrive stands for the standard all wheel drive system. And the d as a suffix stands for the engine turbocharged with the diesel.
